Well, our little Wilson turned one this past weekend!  He was also dedicated at our church (kind of the equivalent to a baby’s baptism).  We had a lovely party for him with family coming from allllll over the place and I really felt the love for this little guy.  I drew upon that love today when he and I drove up to Baltimore and back so he could see another specialist about his tongue tie… and while I feel confident that the tongue tie issue will now be behind us, I am so exhausted.

Really quickly before I pass out, I thought I’d share Evie’s and my decorations for Wilson’s big party!

She and I traversed the woods behind our house last week cutting off snippets of greenery and stowing them away in a trash bag.  This was actually a lot of fun for both of us.  Then we got home and dumped out all our greenery onto the front porch.

Using floral wire, I cut a long strand (about 10′) and then got to work attaching little pieces of greenery to it with more wire.

I tried to layer it enough so that you couldn’t see any of the wire, which meant each section was about 3 sprigs of greenery deep.

I had so much left over after the first garland that I went ahead and made another.

Then, the morning of the party, we hung one up on the staircase in the hallway and the other draped over the mantle in the family room.

We used little storebought garland wrapper things to hang it on the stair railing:

They weren’t my favorite but overall it wasn’t too noticeable.

I loved how it looked in the family room the most though.

I couldn’t see the wire at all and loved the warmth that it brought to the mantle.

We’ll see how long it stays fresh like this!

And now… time for me to crash.  Hope everyone has a lovely week!  🙂
