Half-Bath Renovation Update
To backtrack a bit, here’s what the half-bathroom renovation was looking like before we painted the walls and installed the new sink/ re-installed the toilet:
After we FINALLY got all the wallpaper off, we decided to paint the walls Benjamin Moore’s Sag Harbour Gray (as we mentioned briefly here). I fell in love with this color when I worked at a home furnishings shop in Northern Virginia… the walls were painted that color and I just wanted to try it out in a room of my own sometime.
I don’t know if you caught it, but there’s a big gaping hole in the middle of the wall where the medicine cabinet used to be (scroll down halfway to see the bathroom before we touched a thing). I decided I didn’t want a medicine cabinet there but instead would just cover up the hole with a big mirror.
I found this mirror at Home Decorators Collection:
It was originally listed for $199, but they were having a big mirror sale (plus free shipping!) and we also had a gift card so we ended up only paying $100.
Well the mirror arrived last week and we didn’t have time to install it. David and I actually went out of town for the weekend to celebrate my birthday and my mom and stepfather house-sat (and babysat the beasts we call dogs) for us. I had mentioned to my mom that I was going to hang the mirror in the bathroom… and, well, imagine my surprise when we arrived home to this:
They installed it for us while we were gone!!!!!!!
We still have the finishing touches to do (such as the glass for the light fixture, outlet covers, cleaning the tile wall really well and a few paint touch-ups) but thanks to the thoughtfulness of my mom and her husband we are WELL on our way to being done!
We are so, so incredibly grateful. And impressed they could hang such a heavy mirror so well (believe me, it was HEAVY). And impressed at the electrical skills– that could have cost us a lot of money to have an electrician do all that work, but thanks to his electrical prowess he could do all of that himself in just a weekend. Can y’all imagine how blessed and lucky David and I feel tonight?!
Love that mirror! Good work! Your house looks amazing and keeps getting better!
