We just about have Evie’s precious nursery done!
A few weeks after she was born we ordered a 24 inch wood wall monogram from this Etsy shop for $65. I’m a sucker for monograms, let me tell you. I guess it’s a Southern thing but I’ve always loved mine. (Side note: as you’ll see below, our last name starts with an ‘S.’ I was devastated when I started planning our wedding to discover David’s and my monogram reads LSD, like the drug. So we have nothing monogrammed in our house with our monogram on it… talk about sad!) It was kind of expensive but I figure it will be in her room for a loooong time, way past when she needs a crib, and it’s not like her name is ever going to change while she’s in my house. It took a while for them to make it and ship it, but it finally arrived and I love how sweet it is!
My father-in-law spray painted it for us when he was up here recently (since I broke both feet, we’ve been blessed to have family back taking care of us again). He laid it out on old Trader Joe’s bags since we don’t have any spare newspaper laying about…
He used this spray paint:

And took some thin nails to hang it on the wall above Evie’s crib.
Ta da!! I love how it turned out!
We’ve only got one tiny thing left to do before the nursery is done– I’ll post pictures of it sometime this weekend! 🙂 I was nervous about decorating the nursery after the baby’s arrival, but to any pregnant mamas out there… I would do it this way again. I’m glad we didn’t find out the gender of our baby until her birth because that was the COOLEST surprise of my life (yes, even cooler than when we got engaged!) and I love being able to take my time to make the room into something just for Evie. It’s not like once the baby is born the room has to be 100% finished. Anyway, we should wrap it all up in the next day or so… I’ll show you how it turns out!
