New year, new paint colors! Am I right? Here’s a look at what top paint companies/ magazines/ decorators/ color-minded people are calling the paint colors of 2015!

To me, Marsala looks like a light red wine– a claret maybe?– and frankly isn’t too exciting. I was kind of disappointed by Pantone’s choice. It’s an interesting color but not quite as groundbreaking and sophisticated as I think they wanted it to be.
Behr
According to Behr, 4 categories of paint colors are in:
Seems like Behr did a good job covering their bases and listed every possible color. I am pleased to see the neutral “peach preserve,” as I think pinks and peaches are a gorgeous underutilized neutral paint color, but otherwise Behr’s 2015 selection seems pretty, well, safe. I like the idea of the deep colors in the deep dreams theme… that warm Heritage Oak looks like it could be stunning, doesn’t it?
Benjamin Moore
Good ol’ Benjamin Moore does it again. I present the gorgeous BM color of the year:

Guilford Green is beautiful. (Here’s a Consumer Reports article on the color, if you’re interested.) I honestly want to redo my kitchen in it but I think David would have a heart attack. It’s a warm green beige neutral but definitely not boring.
BM’s other colors are just as enchanting:
(Side note: David is sitting next to me working on grad school stuff– he just happened to glance over at my screen and said, with alarm, “Wait you want to redo the kitchen?!!” Heh heh heh. Told ya.)
I really love each of BM’s 2015 colors. Gray is super trendy right now, as I’ve already mentioned, but why not capitalize on the trend and introduce some beautiful grays. I’m also loving their black!! Go big or go home, all you people who have the guts to paint a room black! I wish I were that cool.
Sherwin-Williams
Like Behr, S-W has different themes for 2015. The first is Chrysalis:
“As modern life and technology rush at us, we seek an oasis where we can find balance, mindful living and tempo giusto (the “right time,” or the steady, regular beat of the heart).”
S-W’s next color theme is Voyage:
“No longer confined to our earthly plane, we look to the beyond and find colors that are supernatural and magical.”
Their third and final color theme is Buoyant:
“Happy days are here again! We’ve weathered the recession.”
I like a lot of S-W’s colors for 2015. Ones that stand out to me are Black Fox from the Chrysalis collection, Sticks & Stones from the Chrysalis collection, Antiquity from the Voyage collection, and Ryegrass from the Buoyant collection.
PPG Voice of Color
This is an interesting website to check out how the color trends are chosen and finally narrowed down for one particular company: https://www.ppgvoiceofcolor.com/global-paint-color-trends
Their 2015 color of the year is unlike the others we’ve looked at so far:
“We anticipate our 2015 Color of the Year to play a prominent role in the home décor trends for the coming year as homeowners look to positively influence their lives and decisions with vibrant colors.”
Interesting– that seems to be a trend, perhaps? Homeowners looking to positively influence their lives by painting their walls vibrantly?

Like other paint companies, Pratt & Lambert has four themes of paint colors for 2015. They are:
I adore the Pink Beige in the Terra theme (it reminds me of Heirloom, which I chose for my bedroom) and the Snapdragon in the Cadence theme. There are no other yellow paints that I’ve seen forecasted for 2015 and I love a good yellow— so I’m happy to see this cheerful Snapdragon.

Rather than try and mimic how well their website illustrates new colors, you can check it out for yourself here: https://www.elledecor.com/design-decorate/color/2015-pantone-color-of-year#slide-17
I will say Elle has chosen a lot of vibrant blues and blue-greens, and pink seems to be coming in vogue too.
[easyazon_link keywords=”Farrow and Ball” locale=”US” tag=”farmhouse020-20″]Farrow & Ball[/easyazon_link]
Farrow & Ball has announced four colors for 2015 and I think each one is a winner:
Breakfast Room Green:
Light Blue:
Pink Ground:
“Paler in appearance they help to create spaces that live and breathe as we look to our homes as places of sanctuary from the stresses of modern day living.”
I love each of Farrow & Ball’s colors– I would do a room in each of them, no joke.
So there you have it. Lots of gorgeous colors that are making their way to homes across America. I think it’s interesting how many ideas behind the trends there are. I wouldn’t say there’s one general consensus on paint color, would you? I like it that way– lots to choose from and be inspired by!
Love your taste in color choices. Hope to try some of them… Would be fun to see a fresh new look!!!
