Using a Level in an Old House

Allow me to direct your attention once more to our kitchen for just a minute.  This is a quick post… lots of dishes and cleaning to do while the baby’s asleep.  She’s teething right now so I don’t have much time to do anything while she’s awake!  Anyway, we moved a big mirror from Alexandria when we came to Charlottesville and I’ve been dying to get it hung– I love all the light that comes with a big mirror.  Finally, with the help of my mom’s husband Miles, we got it up on the kitchen wall!2014-08-09 17.28.35

They hung it using our handy dandy level, but something looked off as soon as they stepped away… I noticed it was not in fact level, even though it was parallel with the instrument.  Weird, right?

It turns out the beadboard is not level at all!  And neither is our floor!  Ha!

Don’t you just love old houses?  🙂
